The three elements of drafting, colour and composition form the cornerstones of my approach to Fine Art. I do not always include all three in a day’s work, but they are the building blocks for any finished piece.
Illustration to me involves an element of storytelling. Illustrations can supplement a story’s text by graphically enhancing the narrative. Elements of storytelling, such as character and plot, incorporate visual media in different ways. I am interested in the relationship between text and images and in exploring the forms that this can take.
Design in its most basic sense describes an ordered pattern. It can apply to strategy for creating content. I especially like the way the concept applies to digital technology, where the tools that are used in the areas of UX and UI design form the building blocks of a language, so users can communicate through digital interfaces.
